Instagram rolls out new sticker to Support Small Business

Instagram released the “Support Small Business” sticker so people can discover, support and shout out small businesses they love.

Instagram’s COO Justin Osofsky said,

“We want to do everything we can to support small businesses right now, whether that’s building new tools to help them stay in touch with customers or giving people the power to easily show their love to businesses they care about. Every bit of support counts right now—we’re making progress with these updates, but our work is far from finished.”

You can find the “Support Small Business” sticker in your stories with the rest of your stickers. When you click the sticker, you’ll be prompted to type in the Instagram handle of the account you want to feature.

You can choose to show a preview of that person’s account (3 images) or just their Instagram handle. Once it’s added to their Instagram story, other users will be able to see the business that was shared and click through right to their profile.

Not only that, but Instagram has a dedicated shared story highlight of  “Support Small Business” stories that will feature all of the accounts you follow that are using this sticker. This can be found at the top of your page along with all of the other stories from your followers.

When a business is mentioned in the Sticker, they will receive a DM notification that they’ve been mentioned in a story. From there, they’ll be able to repost the story to their own stories.

The best thing about this feature is that it creates brand awareness and visibility for your brand! So if people are tagging you, be sure to send them over a DM saying, “Thank you!”

If you’ve landed on the blog, you’re realllllly deep in my neck of the woods! Whether you’re here to blog stalk or educate yourself, either way you’re getting good stuff, so settle in!
